Welcome
to the Appalachian Center for Craft
At the Appalachian Center for Craft,
a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University (TTU), our students
explore diverse options in professional craft studies. The Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree is the centerpiece of the Craft
Center's academic programs.
The Craft Center promotes excellence in American craft by teaching
tradition and innovation in technique, concept and design. We provide
access to the highest quality craft education, professional artists,
and career opportunities.
We offer our students the option of
five Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or Craft
Certificate concentrations: clay,
fibers,
glass,
metals and wood.
Our BFA program is accredited by the National Association of Schools
of Art and Design and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Workshop
Programs
Over 75 workshops are offered each year in blacksmithing,
clay, fibers, glass, metals and wood. Evening classes are January-March & September-November; weekend classes are available in May & September; 6-day intensive workshops are offered during June & July.
Gallery & Exhibitions
The Craft Center is home to one of the premier retailers
of fine craft in the Southeast. We feature contemporary
and traditional fine craft by Craft Center artists and
100+ regional craft artists. The Craft Center hosts up to 25 exhibitions
annually. Shows range from the works of regional, national
and international contemporary craft artists, to our faculty, resident
artists and student BFA exhibitions.
Artist in Residence Programs
The Craft Center has six resident artist positions: clay, fibers, glass, metals, wood and exhibitions. The program allows emerging
professional craft artists to live and work in the environment of
the Craft Center.
